Position Overview

The Business Development Manager (BDM) leads the company’s efforts to expand and maintain relationships with influencers (specifying engineers, architects, property managers, etc...) and end user customers (building owners). BDMs promote products, solutions and services to generate sales and company brand awareness in these relationships.

The BDM promotes the entire range of company products, solutions and services to influencers and end users in an effort to place the Company and its Partner channel as the successful supplier. The BDM articulates the technology and solutions positioning to both business and technical buyers.

The BDM reports to the Director of Sales Support.

Description of Responsibilities

  • Meets with influencers and end users to get Company’s portfolio of products, solutions and services specified in the market.
  • Develops and maintains specification documentation and collateral to aid influencers and end users in the specifying and utilization of the Company’s products.
  • In collaboration with Sales Support Team, develops and delivers new product introductions (roll-outs) to the market and channel.
  • In conjunction with Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) and Sales Management, leads sales efforts with influencers and end user customers to position Company’s portfolio of products, solutions and services.
  • Uses external web based sales tools such as Cubus and Reed Connect to target and focus on new project opportunities.
  • Maintains accurate tracking of leads, opportunities, meetings and outcomes, utilizing the CRM.
  • Creates and follows up on opportunities with RSMs and channel Partners utilizing the CRM.
  • Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order to meet performance objectives.
  • Meets assigned targets for sales, market specifications and strategic objectives.
  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates influencer and end user customer needs on an ongoing basis.

Accountabilities and Performance Measures

  • Achieves assigned quotas in designated geography.
  • Achieves strategic customer objectives defined by company management.
  • Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.
  • Completes required training and development objectives within the assigned time frame.

Organizational Alignment

  • Reports to the Director of Sales Support.
  • Enlists the support of sales specialists, implementation resources, service resources, and other sales and management resources as needed.
  • Closely coordinates sales team involvement with customer management.
  • Works closely with support team representatives to ensure customer satisfaction and problem resolution.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in English communication skills, bilingualism (French, Spanish) is an asset.
  • Four year University or College degree from an accredited institution or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of strategic sales experience in a HVAC or Building Automation System business-to-business sales environment.
  • Exceptional written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle various priorities.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Personal computer proficiency.

Job Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Home-based office.
  • This opportunity is available anywhere in North East USA.
  • This position requires extensive travel.  The employee must hold a valid passport.
