Job Summary

Reporting to the Products Director, the Technical Writer Team Leader is responsible for writing, in English, a clear operational, concise and accurate documentation for users, according to the standards and guidelines established in the team. In addition, the Technical Writer Team Leader is responsible for coordinating the activities of technical writing as well as translation of documents.

This person is proactive, independent and has, in the past, demonstrated team spirit. His professionalism and dedication contribute to the success of projects and the quality of relationship with all. The Technical Writing Team Leader is actively involved in technical writing while respecting delays, cost and quality of the documents.

Description of responsibilities

Documentation

  • Write new material as well as update and maintain existing material

  • Write conceptual information, reference documentation, user procedures, online help, tutorials and examples.

  • Gather information concerning the features and functions provided by the development team

  • Make graphs, charts and diagrams for documentation

  • Manage documentation localization and translation for the different market

  • Determine documentation requirements and make plans for meeting them

  • Review documentation standards and the existing project documentation

  • Report project status and issues accurately and in a timely fashion.

  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Team

  • Work closely with different groups during the respective phases of development and pre-releases.

  • Assist in the analysis and improvement of methods, tools, processes and technical writing standards within the team.

  • Take a proactive role in improving the available tools and internal processes.

Management

  • With the Project Managers, weekly coordinate the group activities composed with 3 to 5 Technical Writers,

  • With the Product Director, ensure the hiring, coaching and development;

  • With the Product Director, establish development objectives and keep track during the erformance evaluation,

  • Ensure the quality of the documentation prepared by the team.

     

     

Profile

Essential

  • Bachelor completed in writing, communications or related field

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in technical writing

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in management of technical writing team(minimum 3-5 employees)

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience with Software Management System (CMS, Content Management System)

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of translation experience in coordinating documents in various languages

  • English and French reading, writing and speaking

  • Master Adobe, In Design and FrameMaker software, Microsoft Word and Excel

Important

  • Working experience in an Agile development framework

  • Creating document templates

  • Ability to implement and monitor the project documentation

Asset (s)

  • Knowledge of HVAC (HVAC) and Building Control

  • Knowledge of LonWorks protocols and / or BACnet and / or Modbus
